Cornhole Game Description

The history of cornhole gamecornhole game actually goes back to the fourteen-centuries. Legends say that cornhole was created from a gentleman named Mr. Matthias Kuepemann. He notices that children was tossing rocks into a groundhog hole. He thought that was unsafe for children to do. So he thought to his self how can I make this safe for them. By utilizing his skills that he had and knew. He came up with corn in a bag. This was only one version. The original patent in 1883 by Heyliger de Windt and name was called “Parlor Quoits”. Then Heyliger de Windt sold his rights to a Massachusetts Toy manufacture and it was named “Faba Baga”. The modern game of cornhole or bean bags in the Northwest region in 1974.

Equipment needed

 

You will need two boards two boards that are made from plywood. They must be 48″ inches long and 24″ inches wide. The center hole is 6″ inches in diameter. 9″ inches down from top and 12″ inches from each side. For the 8 cornhole bags that will be use in the game are all 6×6 bags. Set boards from front to front is 24 feet for casual game or for a tournament game they must be 27 feet apart from front to front. Scoreboard for keeping score.

Can be played at

Usually you can find people play almost anywhere. It started out as a lawn game so it can be played in your backyard, parks, parking lots, colleges, school yards, streets. We found the way to move it indoor as well. A lot of bars have it indoors if they have room, high enough ceilings. Maybe you would like to use a high school gymnasium, or convention center. Any place would work if you have space and height.

How to play:

You have a choice of having a 2 players or 4 players. The object is to put your 4 bags in the hole or landing it on the board for points. Alternate throwing bags with your opponent. Each team has 4 bags. Your feet can not go in pass the front of board. Also, a tossed bag can not touch the ground. Bags can not hang off board and touching the ground and if they bounce from the ground to the board, they all have to be removed. All 8 bags have been thrown total up score. Scoring is as follows, if a bag goes into hole it will be 3 points and if a bag lands on the board it is 1 point. But your opponent bags lands on board or in the hole it cancels each other out. The team with more points that equals 21 points wins the game.

Helpful tips:

Clear the area of any debris 

Make sure boards are in a level position. 

Right handed throwers need to be positioned on the left side of the opposite board. And if left-handed do the opposite.

Spin your bag like a pancake and it should gracefully land on board go right into the hole
